The Nigerian Union Taskforce on Violence and Killings of Nigerians
in South Africa is aware of the murder involving Promise Ogomegbulem (30 years
old), from Agbor, Delta State, who was popularly known as Promise. The incident
took place on Friday, February 2, 2024, at around 7.10 p.m. at Angle 90 Darras
Centre, Juno St, Kensington, Johannesburg, CBD. We understand that the family
and friends of Promise are going through a difficult time, and we sympathize
with them.
We have reported the matter to the Consulate General of Nigeria in Johannesburg. We urge everyone
not to take the law into their own hands and avoid further killings. If such a
thing happens, the Taskforce will use all the powers of the South African and
Nigerian governments at its disposal to bring the culprits to justice.
We are working tirelessly on this case and will do everything we
can to unravel the mystery. We call on anyone with useful information to assist
us and ensure that the people involved are identified and handed over to the
police. We assure Promise's friends, family, and Nigerians that we will follow
up on the case and ensure that the individuals responsible are brought to
justice.
We urge everyone to remain calm and cooperate with us. Working
together to achieve peace and common goals is the best way forward for our
community. We can only achieve this through patience, understanding, and
cooperation.
