About Us

The Nigerian Union, South Africa, was established in 2008 and registered in South Africa under the Companies Act.

It is a not-for-profit association registered to represent the interest of Nigerian nationals living in South Africa. Membership in the Union is voluntary and open to all Nigerians, their legitimate spouses, and children resident in South Africa irrespective of profession, status, or religion.

Nigerian Union, South Africa is in all Nine (9) Provinces in the country. The Gauteng Chapter of the Union is the most vibrant, and it houses over 60% of the overall Nigerian population in South Africa.

The main goal of the association is to build a thriving community that promotes, supports, and caters to each other strengths positively in South Africa. That way, every member, no matter their age, background, experiences, personal worth, and happiness, will be proud as a member of the association.

As a network of thought leaders from a rich diversity of expertise, the union is committed to facilitating difficult conversations and taking the bold actions required to confront the different situations facing the Nigerian community in South Africa.

How We Work:

Inform & Advice

We provide knowledge and advice to inform better decisions for our members. As the largest and most trusted national Nigerian Association in South Africa, we help steer decision-making.

Engage & Influence

We bring members and policy shapers together to exchange ideas, share experiences, and forge progress across different areas. Peers across different backgrounds meet to learn from and be inspired by one another.

Set standards and provide opportunities

We encourage members and other partners to develop international standards in engaging and interacting so that everyone plays by the same rules and cooperates to reach shared objectives with every opportunity we provide.

Contribute & Empower

There are many ways to give back but it's not always easy to find an outlet for our efforts. NUSA Gauteng aims to link those that want to make a difference with concrete opportunities to forge a better future.
