NUSA Gauteng Hosts Empowering Women's Meet at Sunnyside, Pretoria

On Saturday, December 30, 2023, the Nigerian Union South African (NUSA) Gauteng Chapter hosted a Women’s meet and empowerment event at Sunnyside, Pretoria, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Olayinka Adeniyi (LLD) Vice Chairperson of NUSA Gauteng, and Ms. Olamide Fawehinmi, Welfare Officer.
The program aimed at fostering personal and professional development among women, offering valuable insights into various aspects of their lives. The event brought together a diverse group of participants eager to enhance their well-being and skills.
The program commenced with an informative Nutritional Health talk. Attendees also had the opportunity to undergo a free Body Mass Index (BMI) health check. The Nutritional Health presentation not only emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle but also provided practical tips for achieving and sustaining it.
In addition to the health-focused segment, the event included a comprehensive discussion on women's mental and social well-being, shedding light on crucial aspects often overlooked in the busy lives of today's women.
One of the highlights of the day was the Diploma Certificate Training on Business Setup and Management, a program designed to empower women with the knowledge and skills necessary for self-reliance. The interactive training session, facilitated by experts in the field, aimed to equip participants with the tools to establish and manage their businesses successfully.
The esteemed guest list included Doris Ikeri-Solarin, the National NUSA President, who graced the occasion with her presence and active participation. The full support extended by the NUSA Gauteng Chairman-Prince Olaniyi Abodedele which included his financial contribution, physical presence and active participation in the program underscored the significance of the program in fostering unity and women empowerment within the NUSA community. The NUSA Gauteng Secretary Prof. Collins Pokokri was also in attendance to represent the NUSA Gauteng executive.
The NUSA Women's Meet and Empowerment Program proved to be an enriching experience for all attendees, offering a platform for learning, networking, and personal growth.
NUSA Gauteng continues to be at the forefront of initiatives that uplift and empower the Nigerian community, and this event was a testament to their commitment to the holistic development of their members and by extension the South African community.
